And I fell down before his feet to worship him. And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10 ASV
The translation of the Greek manuscript of Mathew 28:1 by the King James Version implies that Jesus was risen on the first day of the week, simply by adding the word 'day' to the translation and translating the Greek work 'sabbaton' by week instead of the plural 'sabbaths' of the Greek.
So, if you open your favorite KJV translation to learn about the day of the resurrection, there you read it in Matthew 28:1 that the women went to the tomb of Jesus on the first day of the week which Sunday.
However, the Greek manuscript, if translated faithfully, stated that the women went to the tomb on 'the first of the sabbaths', which is a Saturday.
To be able to understand that Jesus was risen on a Saturday, you need the knowledge about the 'seven complete sabbaths' spoken of in Leviticus.
The book of Revelation is a prophecy according to Revelation 1:3; 19:10; 22:7; 22:10; 22:18; 22:19. What is the purpose of the prophecy of the Apocalypse (Revelation)?
The answer:
'For the testimony [witness] of Jesus is the spirit of [the] prophecy'.
Yes. The spirit of THE prophecy of Apocalypse is the witness of Jesus as He asked His Disciples to be in Acts 1:8 when Jesus commissioned them as Apostles.
Why is the misunderstanding?
The translation leaves out the Greek definite article 'the' in front of prophecy and the word 'testimony' was chosen instead of the word 'witness'.
What were the Apostles witnessing about Jesus?
That Jesus is YHWH God the Redeemer and Savior of the Old Testament in flesh who died and was risen after 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb (Romans 10:9-11, John 8:24).
That is the witness of the 3 messages of the 3 Angels which SDA does not understand: to defer to Jesus only according to John 3:16 as Jehovah God the Creator not Archangel Michael and not to the disguised messengers of Satan ( 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, Mark 7:6-7, Ezekiel 33:13) in any doctrinal matter.
Revelation 19:10 makes it clear to John that no one may bow to an Angel. Yet, the Seventh Day Adventism still teaches that Jesus is Archangel Michael (Mark 7:7)!
1844 was also a misunderstanding of an 'added' word to a translation.
Note: This is not like the Victor Houteff's teachings! Come out of the child of Babylon (Revelation 18:4, 17:5).
